However, when it came time to burn my real project, the problems began. I had to consult user forums for solutions, but it seems there were more complaints and very few answers.
Through many hours of trial and error, I managed to figure out the problem and burn the DVD. Turns out I had the quality settings too high which made the files too big for the DVD (for a 25 min. Video, near the limit for a single-layer DVD). The error messages didn't tell me this, I had to figure it out myself. It would've been nice if the program could tell me my settings were wrong from the very start instead of 4 hours later. It was a learning experience, so the next project should go more predictably.
